Surreal Parade

Last Saturday me and Jared went to James Dean festival in Fairmont. James Dean is everything that Fairmount have. So I guess the day of the J. D. festival is the most important day of this little town. We came right in time for the parade, which started at 2 pm. Even though like I said - James Dean - is all that they can be proud off -  the parade included everything, but James Dean. It was a pretty surreal act. It included everything: police and fire cars, political candidates commercial, clowns, church choir, african drums group, Elvis impersonator, different social clubs, symphonic orchestra, truck filled with local country musicians, bikers, old cars.. and more and more and more.. So even though it wasn't someth, that was well-planned and rehearsed it impressed me a lot with it's colorfulness frankness..

Nature

My today's inspiration is a picnic in a park and a short hike before that. Tree branches of  all different shapes... I've taken several dry branches home. Just dry branches as they are will make a room look different. Dry plants are good too. I'm not a person, who likes to fill a home with useless stuff, but temporary decorations, which can be replaced with something else in future are good. Autumn is the best time for collecting dry nature..

Project: a place where adults can feel like children again

 Today's air makes me remember my childhood days at my grandma's summer house (dacha). It's sunny, but there is a little bit of cool breeze, the air is so fresh, I can smell autumn in it and spring too, for some reason... My grandma's house was wooden old-russian stile house with lot's of trees around. There was paticular smell of old wood in it. Rooms were a little bit dark, but still very cozy for me. I remember myself building fortresses on the table from cubes towers and archs. I would settle there chess figures and play with them by myself or with friends. Chess kings, queens, pawns, bishops, rooks, knights would be my toys... No worries, no heavy thoughts only the world  of my imagination, fairy tale world..I wish I could come back to that state of mind again..
That's why I got the idea of designing a space,where adults could feel like children again.

were we designed to live where we were born?

Some people say:"you belong, where you were born" Is that really true? We like to travel, we like to move and widen horizons, learn new things. Sometimes after we come home from another trip we say:"I wanna move there", "someday I wanna live there"... But when we actually move to another place, we start to miss home, we forget all the bad and remember only good, we start too look for minuses of our new habbitat and forget , why we wanted to live there..
My name is Katya, I was born in Moscow, Russia and I'm currently moving to US. My Dad grew up in America. I started travelling here since 2006. I've been all over US. After my first trip I came home as a completely different person. I knew I would come back to America, but I didn't think Iwould move here.It happened on my second trip - I fell in love. Thats why I'm moving.
It's been about two months since I came here.What do I miss about home?

1 walking (it's almost impossible to move here if you don't have a car)
2 my city (Moscow is completely different from Indianapolis, IN)
3 the air (although the air is better here, i still miss russian air)
4 my relatives and friends
5 tradition of drinking tea
